The European Patent Office (EPO) reviews its fee structure every two years. In this context, the EPO has announced a general increase in its fees as of 1 April 2026.
This increase, of approximately 5%, affects the majority of fees currently paid. However, it may be possible to reduce the impact of this increase by bringing forward certain Payments before it comes into effect. This applies in particular to:
- the payment of renewal fees, which can be made up to three months before the due date;
- the examination and designation fees (+€130)
- the issuance fee (+€55) when the corresponding notification has already been issued by the EPO.
